The Comprehensive Strategic Planning Approach
The strategic planning approach developed by ArtExpert is based on a participatory and rigorous method that integrates internal and external assessments to drive the development of cultural organizations.
It begins with a comprehensive assessment that combines an analysis of the organization’s financial, statistical, and historical data, supplemented by a PESTEL analysis of the sector (covering socioeconomic, environmental, technological, and political factors).
Internally, the process harnesses collective intelligence through co-creation workshops and focus groups conducted with management, the board of directors, faculty, and technical staff to redefine the mission, vision, and core values. Semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders and external partners then help gauge current market needs.
The process culminates in the development of priority areas of focus and strategic directions, accompanied by measurable (SMART) objectives and a budgeted five-year implementation plan to ensure a smooth transition into the future.
Work Completed for the Bonsecours Ceramics Center (CCB)
For the Bonsecours Ceramics Center, ArtExpert developed a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at consolidating its role as a leading center for learning, research, and professional development in ceramics in Quebec. The project involved a thorough review of the organization’s vision, mission, and values through co-creation workshops involving the board of directors, management, and faculty. The assessment highlighted the need to adapt the college program (DEC) in partnership with the Cégep du Vieux Montréal, to develop professional development courses for professionals and advanced amateurs, and to address issues related to space and underfunding.
Work Completed for the Montreal Leather Trades Center (CMCM)
For the Montreal Leather Crafts Centre, ArtExpert developed a strategic plan focused on modernization, synergy with the fashion industry, and ensuring the long-term transmission of leathercraft expertise. The process included updating the mission, vision, and values statements in collaboration with the board of directors, as well as targeted consultations with instructors, technicians, and partners. The work carried out helped align the CMCM’s development with the CMAQ’s master plan (the “Quartier des métiers d’art” project in the Bridge-Bonaventure sector) and address the challenges of supply chain management, new technologies, and nurturing the next generation of artisans.
