Canada’s television landscape

APFC receives ArtExpert’s report

Montréal, April 12, 2007 – ArtExpert presented its final report today to the direction of the Alliance des producteurs francophones du Canada, entitled « La place des communautés francophones et acadienne dans l’univers télévisuel du Canada » (The place of the Francophone and Acadian communities in Canada’s television landscape).

With the goal of ensuring the distribution and promotion of French-language productions in minority regions within the Canadian broadcast system, ArtExpert documented the status of French-language television production outside Quebec, in television networks across Canada. The report was produced as part of a project subsidized by the Canadian Heritage Ministry’s Official Languages Support Programs.

In October 2006, ArtExpert.ca was mandated to consult the principal stakeholders and to document the process. Under the direction of ArtExpert’s president, Louise Poulin, the team of expert consultants included Benoît Gignac (group monitoring and content analysis), Nancy Juneau (analysis and commentary) and Paula McKeown (research).

The Alliance des producteurs francophones du Canada is dedicated to the development of the French-language film, television and multimedia industry across Canada. Created in 1999, it represents independent producers in the film, television and multimedia sector working mainly in French outside Quebec. The APFC has created a solid bridge between French-language minority communities.
